The implication of rejecting the gospel

rejecting the gospel2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.”

God gave to us his costliest gift. That gift is his son Jesus Christ. In his generosity, He released his son to be tortured to death by depraved sinners so as to bear the consequences of the sins of the world, profitable to as many that will believe on his name and live for him.

John 3:16 : For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth He in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

It was not a hilarious experience either. Jesus was abused, maltreated, mocked, rejected and treated with uttermost hatred by hostile and vile elements. He did not have to do it. He was not in any way under any obligation to carry out such a bleeding sacrifice and go through such excruciating pains. Love is it! He did it out of his love for us. He did it to gain back his people who have been turned away from God back to God in utter purity, righteousness, love and faith.

This condition was consequent upon as many who will turn back to God in righteousness via repentance and faith. Potentially, the sacrifice was made for all mankind, without prejudice or discrimination.

The condition necessitated by this sacrifice is that as many that believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. By direct implication, whosoever rejects or treat with levity this bleeding sacrifice will be eternally damned! The gospel of righteousness should not be taking into liberties; that is, making less its importance by virtue of anticipated gain or loss. There are no cutting corners. No arbitration or appeal shall be made further on this issue if we treat with a wave of hand, the purpose of the gospel (eternal life).

John 3:34-36: “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

Fate of those who reject the gospel

Ab initio, God did not intend to condemn the world by sending his son. He sent his son so that the world through him might be saved, thereby averting the destruction meted for Satan sin and sinners as a consequence.

Strict caution however, must be taken; Even though Jesus did not come to condemn the world but to save the world-everyone who believes is not condemned, those who reject him at first or second instance are already condemned from the moment they become aware of the preaching and provisions of the cross.

John 3:17-19: “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”

Condemnation in this respect means that God’s wrath and eternal destruction or express access to HELL-FIRE is upon such individual, even though, such a one is still alive and benefiting from the good of life freely given to every living thing by God’s benevolence.

There is no longer any excuse for sin. You have heard the gospel of righteousness or hearing it right now! You cannot reject Christ and have claims to his father (Jehovah-God).

John 15:22: “If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also.”

It is sad to note that some group of people (ministers) have taken the gospel to represent a mere satisfaction for physical and sensual desires. They represent the grace of God as a permission to indulge in all forms of sexual fantasies and desires contrary to the word of God.With flattery and swelling words, they make merchandise of the gospel for financial gains. Through their teachings and ministries, they undermine the seriousness and real purpose of the gospel; turning hearts away from God to material acquisition and offer of cheap salvation and ‘self-indulging grace’. Such people have been marked out for eternal destruction.

Jude 1:4 “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”

2 Peter 2:3: “And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.”

Those who reject or pervert the gospel of righteousness will be severely judged by God and punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the lord and from the majesty of his power. Their judgment had been prepared a long time waiting for the fullness of time.

The same goes for everyone who does not know the lord. It is compulsory that everyone gets to know the lord by being saved from sins.

2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.”

God gives all haters of righteousness over to delusion

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12:

“Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

God in his love gives every one of us time to make up our mind to decide to live for him by embracing the gospel of righteousness and get saved. However, this time limit is not infinite. Prolong refusal and rejecting the gospel and the life of righteousness, in spite of continual exposure via hearing or contact with believers, God gives such individual over to the inclination of their hearts and to lying spirits. Such group of people, in order not to escape God’s judgment for rejecting the true gospel, God turns them over to false religion, false prophets and teachers who teach appealing and self-soothing messages coupled with false and counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders. This miracles gives them the impression that God is with them, not knowing it was meant to establish their hearts in their evil status so as to partake in God’s wrath and judgment.

Experiencing the supernatural such as miracles, signs and wonders even in the midst of sinful living, authenticates, legalizes and dilutes the gravity of sin; unfortunately, such supernatural can only come from Satan.

Everyone needs Jesus desperately

Romans 3:10-18

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:

Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

Their feet are swift to shed blood:

Destruction and misery are in their ways:

And the way of peace have they not known:

There is no fear of God before their eyes.

The above scripture Exemplifies and mirrors the condition of our hearts before coming to Christ. None is righteous, none is good or seeks God. We have all lost the fear of God and our hearts and life is full of every obtainable evil. These condition explained here are the lifestyle of unbelieving, unrepented and unregenerated souls.

Such cannot be said or expected of regenerated believers. If not, they are condemned for taking into liberties the gospel of righteousness.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”  We inherited sin in our nature when our for-parents Adam and Eve disobeyed God by listening to the enemy who made them eat the forbidden fruit.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”   The gift of God is eternal life-This eternal life is part of God’s righteousness he imparts on us who believes in Christ Jesus.

Jesus is the only solution to escape the judgment of God on all sinners. Ignoring Jesus would amount to catastrophe.

Romans 3:25 “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.”

When we believe in Jesus Christ, all our sins punishable by the law and leading to eternal damnation is overlooked on behalf of Christ.

The primary purpose of Christ’s death is to redeem us from sin, avert destruction from HELL fire and to give us eternal life. Every other thing that comes apart from salvation into eternal life secondary.

Colossians 1:28 “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”

The preaching of the gospel is not just a preaching, it is actually a warning to escape eternal damnation and a teaching to present believers perfect and pure before Christ.

What it means to take the gospel for granted:

·      When we harden our hearts toward the gospel

·      When we reject the gospel out rightly

·      When we receive the gospel half-heartedly

·      When we keep returning to sin and refusal to live above sin

·      When we refuse to live exemplary life of Christ

·      When we change the gospel to suit our needs and desires

·      When we turn away from the true gospel

·      When we stop believing the gospel

·      When we allow Satan to use us to hinder the work of the gospel

·      When we deliberately torment believers

·      When we fall from grace

·      When we indulge in immoral lifestyle-Lesbianism, homosexuality, gay marriage, fornication, masturbation, adultery, bestiality, indecent dressing exposing and defining sacred body parts, indecent jokes, speech, thoughts and gestures.

·      Involvement in diabolism, occultism, sorcery, witchcraft, charms, enchantment, horoscope, Zodiac signs, necromancy, spiritism etc.

·      Involvement in works of the flesh Galatians 5:17

·      Refusal to share the gospel with other people

·      Disobedience to God and authority

·      Refusal to walk in love

·      Refusal to bear fruits

·      Esteeming worldly things very high  above spiritual things

2 Corinthians 7:1: Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Every believer should be careful to follow Christ and cleanse himself from every form of filthiness, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Those who reject the gospel will face the full wrath and judgment of God in burning Hell Fire.
